Police Trade-In Condition Grading Guide
There is no industry standard for grading used duty weapons. The NRA grading conditions are some of the most widely used and are referenced in our grades (example: Grade 1 – very good to excellent condition). The language is shared, but does not directly translate to our grades. We use a three tier grading scale for all of our police trade-in firearms. We do our best to ensure each firearm is properly graded. If you receive a firearm in worse condition than what we advertised, please contact us right away because we want to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
Our grading process begins once the trade-in guns hit our retail store. Each firearm is hand checked by one of our employees.
Step 1 - Safety
Above all else, we want to do everything in our power to ensure your firearm is safe for use. We check all guns to ensure there is no live ammunition in the chamber or magazine.
Step 2 - Function
Every so often we find guns with broken parts. These guns are listed separately and are noted that they are not functional. Unless noted in the item description, you can expect your firearm to function normally; some cleaning may be required for Grade 3 firearms.
Step 3 - Condition
Next, the gun is carefully inspected visually for internal and external cosmetic blemishes, such as holster and seatbelt wear, scratches, and K-9 bite marks (Please don't let your dog use your gun as a chew toy). We strive to ensure our firearms are properly graded. We would rather sell you a gun in better condition than you expect.
